unity can work -
let us all unite and file on July 2, the first day. those that lag do so by choice.
please don't say people are selfish and will sell you for a buck etc. the point is, people here are being very helpful to each other. thanks for all the great posts here folks. definitely people here are more responsive than my corporate lawyers right now. and they are sharing formats, links, responses from their lawyers etc. i think everyone is happy to help others as long as there is no loss to themselves.
you have to see the incentive structure and then construct the unity argument. people have no incentive to wait. however, they will unite if they have something to gain. that is why forums such as these are popular.

PS - us filing fewer applications probably does not help. as i have posted elsewhere on this forum, USCIS thought that they were unable to use up all the visa numbers for FY 2007. this comes out of the 485 processing they have been doing till date. they are trying to fill up the 485 filing pipe for the next FY and further out. so, if the USCIS folks see enough 485 filings to fill up the next FEW years expected quotas they will shut it down. not sure how many filers that will take.

Thats a lot of money for EAD & AP. The law firm might be charging 2 grand for your 485 and another grand for your spouse's 485. You dont need a lawyer for filing EAD & AP. You can file them youself along with the 485 application or after getting a receipt number from USCIS for your 485 application. Ask your law firm to prepare 485 for you and your spouse and return the application packet to you. You can sign it off, add your EAD & AP applications and send it to NSC. I supsect they would be willing to do so. By not giving them they would be forcing you to file EAD & AP through them, given that the fees for everything is going up from next month.

Guys, we need keep away these kind of people from IV participation. There should be some restrictions (rules and regulation). These are the people who don't know what they are doing. GOD only can save them.
We are here for to work and live and represent as a forum to fight against a broken system. Looks like we have issues among us.
We either take away GREEN/RED dot concepts from bothering others or do some thing else (display who has given RED/GREEN dots).

I understand your situation as i was there once. If you dont have insurance than your options are very limited. if you live in dallas county parkland hospital is your only choice. Parkland has a network of several clinics around DFW area. Every clinic has financial assistance department. You can visit any of those and they will setup a payment plan which is reasonable based on your income. You will visit them for all prenatal care and when the time comes for delivery it will be taken to parkland. and parkland is a very good hospital as well. beside parkland several hospitals also offer cash plans like RHD memorial at 635 but they will charge you close to 4k just for delivery day and if its a normal one. you will have to do prenatal at your own.

Was this is a change in the procedures of USCIS? If yes, could we not request them to increase the length of the EAD from 1 to 5 years? This will help many of us too. I need to get my DL renewed every year along with the EAD.
Well there was court case related what constitues the 6 years where court said that only period of stay on H1b in US (so period of stay outside US on H1b) doesnt count.
So the law didnt change its the interpreation of law that was changed by the court case.
Same logic goes with H4 (they dont work on H1B ) so it was a matter of time someone would also challenge that on court and win.

Guys.. i'm sick of this nonsense.. I mean this is ridiculous.. this is my second go around in this stupid lottery.. last year I hadn't graduated so they put me in the bachelors quota.. this year the freaking masters quota is full.. i have a genuine offer from one of the big 4 accounting firms.. and have work experience to back it up
i'm sick of these consultant firms.. i wish I could work for the uscis and weed out these miserable cheapsters.. 6 years toiling in their education system, paying the damn taxes, and waiting for 1 smart person to come along and tell them its time to take care of these consultant companies and their consultants who get the jobs based on deceit and conmanship..
simple non sense.. random selection .. my behind..
I really feel like sending flowers to the uscis similar to what the indian folks did last year..

^^This is not gonna happen... and even if it did....well I guess the companies will finally take notice when there are no new people to hire and fire and their bottom lines are hit with permanent hires for every small and odd project......guess what that they will do then....outsource more work to other countries......:)
Good or bad, Virtue or Vice, companies simply can't hire permanent employees with full 'American' benefits for short-term projects....this where the consulting leeches come in.....its all supply and demand man....
