Xtended Computer Attachment Syndrome (XCAS). Like AIDS, it doesn't have any known cures - Big Medicine doesn't have anything it can sell to protect you from it or help you overcome it if you are in fact "infected" with it.
It can be cured with determination and will power - you just need to get out more... :) - in other words, get a life.

I think some of the people on this forum should be diagnosed for click�O�mania. Basically what it means is developing impatience and restlessness qualities as a result of using computer and mouse over an extended period of time. It makes a patient believe that results should be expected within few minutes after initiating any activity just like the click of a mouse does. Examples are on-line credit card payments, rental payments, electricity, telephone, cell phone, cable bill payments, money transfers to name a few. Over period of time when you the patient gets used to these habits, he tries to extend the same logic to other walks of life. Expect results within few minutes. What the click�O�maniac does not understand is certain things in life requires some amount of time in terms of weeks and patience to complete. Even though he/she knows that USCIS is going to receive about � million applications by Aug 17th and receipting of 485 applications is going to take long time, he/she can not resist pressing F5 button on bank statement URL, USCIS press room URL, immigration voice URL, on line case status URL, email account URL and what not URLs. So, someone is trying to contact CSR every day about the receipt status, verifying if checks are cashed or checking LUD on previously approved certifications on hourly basis, it is not his or her fault. Culprit is this undiagnosed disease. If untreated, he/she may be desperate for the finger print notice date in near future. After the finger print notice date, it may be FP notice acceptance date or LUD on case status.
If treated, he realizes that how deep he went into this GC well and how far is away from life on earth and thanks his stars for not remaining as a frog in a well.
How to treat: Do your karma and do not expect results.

I cannot imagine how educated illiterate IV members are. You think voting on some site will get the bill passed? I agree with Fresheb2 that this is a waste of time. You guys are only promoting some new site. This site will capture your email addresses and send you marketing material. If you read about the site owners, they are commerical companies and they seek to make profit from this site. Do not be fooled that someone will send your bogus votes to congress and the bill will be passed. The site only aims at generating awareness among US citizens about congress and bill. They probably got some grant or decided to make money off this idea and started this website.
How about I also start a website and create voting on it and ask everyone to vote. Will it help a bill pass?

and look at the date when it was posted. Is it a coincidence that IV started a similar initiative two days later? could be... but he deserves some recognition. Ron is an immigration lawyer and not a 10k member organization such as IV so he does what he can, and in my opinion provides a good free of charge, service to the community, something that I don't see a lot of other people doing.

I think he posts spicy messages on his forum to market himself. He uses strong language against USCIS to gain support from his prospective clients.
Has he ever stood up for immigrants other than writing strong worded posts? Give me examples as I do not know any? I may be wrong in my assumption.

Transit visa is the biggest fraud ever on the face of us. As a principle I NEVER traveled on Transit visa after it came in to existence.
It's absolutely ridiculous to charge $$ for a visa where all you are going to do is take a dump in their airport.. :mad::mad::mad:

If they're asking for 150% more money, is the service going to be 150% better too??? Are we going to get our forms processed 150% faster too??
Since USCIS calls itself a "customer-focussed" organization, I certainly hope so...
I agree that retrogression problem has nothing to do with this and increasing 150% fees will not process your application 150 times faster. But atleast when we are eligible to file 485, this could take a less time than it does takes right now. Even a one month earlier processing could be very helpful. Quality of service is directly dependent on the resources available and that is dependent on the funds.
I believe this will process the pending application faster than currently it takes.

.. and how exactly do you know that I didn't participate? did you just look in to your crystal ball and it magically gave you a list of people who didn't call their lawmaker? I may not have posted any update in that thread but I did call my 2 senators.
If you think that I have to give you a daily update in writing on what I am doing everyday to support IV, you are up for a surprise because that isn't happening. Before you criticize others, at least think.

So after more than a month of sleepless nights, thanks to Immigration Voice looks like my I 485 application is back on track.
A recap of my situation:
Last month I got an email from USCIS-CRIS stating that my I 485 was withdrawn. After being in this country for close to 10 years and in the immigration queue for more than 7 years why would I withdraw the application ??? I did not withdraw my application !!!
It took me more than a month to find out the reason behind the withdrawal..trust me it was not easy..and guess what ....It was my Attorney who had withdrawn the application in Error. Now what ... I call USCIS multiple times.. talk to many different IO's .. some of them patient and try to help.. some extremely rude.. but all of them had only one thing to say... they cannot help!!..... I get an Info Pass... no help there either.. I set up an emergency meeting with my attorney (one of the large Immigration Law Firms) .. nothing...they accept their mistake tell me that they will do all they can .. but no assurance that they will reinstate the case .. limited forward movement.... things look gloomy and bleak..no one can help me.
Then I called Immigration Voice on the number that is listed on the site and left a voice mail. Promptly got a call back I spoke to a Core member who understood the gravity and urgency of the situation and swiflty moved forward and got in touch with their contacts in the government. The Core member also put me in a conference call with the person who was going to look into my case, I was so relieved that I could explain the situation first hand.
I got a call today and I was told that after evaluating my case my file has been reopened and they have mailed an offical notice regarding the same and I should get it in a few days. *Fingers crossed until I get this notice in hand ;)*
The IV core was extremely sensitive to my situation and were very responsive and extremly helpful. I cant thank Immigration Voice enough for helping me resolve this issue in a quick manner.
I have registered to be a recurring contributing member and I intend to be an active member of this group.
My lessons from this crazy experience are:
- Never trust your attorney, always ask for a copy of any letter/document they send to USCIS on your behalf
- There is no organization besides IV out there that is looking out for the interests of the Immigrant Community.
- We need to strengthen IV in all ways we can, we need to be active.
- And as so many members have already said "We are IV." If we want things to be better "WE" need to do something about it.
I urge members who are still contemplating becoming active members to evaluate their options and to become active and contributing members of IV.

To begin with let me say that I have earned my masters from the US but still I'm not in favor of this idea simply because getting a masters from the US does in no way prove that US needs us more than others (in light of EB law), or we are any smarter or more capable than people who did masters or even under grad from their home country..
Besides this will further divide the community which as is divided.
Just my 2 cents.
Is this still an active topic? or its dead? Are there people with US Master - STEM who are willing to come forward?
I am just trying to gauge this? To me, looks perfect candidate for piece meal while waiting for CIR, justification could be same as 20K quota for H1b, keep US educated in the country and keep contributing to US economy & society. It has two benefits, a) direct to people who have US Master, b) there will xx less number of people in front of who don't qualify for this so their turn will come sooner.

Posted the letter to whitehouse address with the following contents:
"I am writing to inform you of how the country based quotas imposed on Employment Based green cards are unfair and illogical. I came to the US with the belief that this country is a meritocracy where you are judged based on your abilities and qualities. These country based quotas judge people based on their place of birth. This causes people from India and China to wait over a decade to get a green card whereas someone from another country with similar or lesser abilities can obtain permanent residence in a fraction of that time. Lack of permanent residency has made me hesitant to buy a house or to do any long term investments in US and I want to get out of this limbo at the earliest.
My requests to you are:
1. Eliminate country level quota on Green Cards (to reduce the backlog of permanent resident applicants)
2. Recapture unused permanent visa numbers from the past (to allow USCIS to issue permanent visas to eligible applicants whose applications have been processed and pre-adjudicated)
3. Issue 5-year EAD cards (to reduce workload on USCIS of administrative renewals)
4. Issue 5-year Advanced Parole document (to allow people like me stuck in the backlog to travel back and forth from USA without having to renew AP every year)
I believe in President's slogan "Yes, we can!"."
