All,
We have a head start on Northern CA lawmakers, but we'd like to galvanize the rest of the state.
We have an excel spreadsheet with the district office info of every CA congressperson. We should just start going through that list and meeting at least a lawmaker or two a week in every sub-region.
It would be great if members from Southern CA and Central CA would get involved. Dial-in to the weekly conference call on Thursdays, and find out how we put a lawmaker meeting together, what works and what doesn't, what to take etc.
Also, if you go to the Resources section of the website -- you'll see the new presentation and edited brochure. Check them out and prepare yourself for conversations with legislators and potential members.

I think we need an IV movement to fix the Indian Consulates - They are absolutely pathetic - Lets get our house in order before we try to fix the USCIS !!! Does anybody know what is the email address for Meera Shankar - Indian Ambassador to US. We need to bombard her with emails about how badly the Indian consulates in the US are run.

You are WRONG.
Once 485 is filed, its processed according to the "receipt date". Period. Priority date just decides when to file 485. Please know your facts before posting on the forum!!!
You has incorrect infomation. Your Receive Date is a factor but PD is also a big factor, if limited number available.
If two person has submitted their application. One has PD 2001 and RD June 10 2007 and other had PD Jan 2006 with RD May 1 2006.
USCIS 485 Processing Date: June 15th 2007 and Visa Bullitin has "C"
Still PD with 2001 will get the the number first before PD 2006 case.
So
485 RD < USCIS 485 Processing date and PD < Visa Bulletin date
Order by PD desc

How can it be less than 10 years ? Each year has 4 quarters. As long as you made your SS contributions while in LEGAL status, you will get SS payments when time comes.
It doen't matter if your were H, GC, EAD...
SSA has been cracking down on illegals however, so it might be wise to keep documentation of your leagal working status for future.
... and remember it's 40 quarters (which canb be acheived in as little as 8 years and 3-6 months if timed right.

friends ..are we giving up before even trying ??? this is the least that we can do ..just write that you are a skilled legal immigrant with american kids. you have followed all the rules for 6-8 years ..waiting for a GC so that you can buy a house (or if you have a house then there is a danger that it will go in foreclosure because of GC delays) ..few minutes is all that is needed

Thanks Sanbaj. Do you have both applications under same sponsor? Or different sponsor? My case is: both different sponsor and on top of that now I am working for third company using AC21 -EAD. Can any complications arise?
My case was simple. Same Sponsor. Same Category EB2. You case is complex as three different companies are involved. In my understanding, which is very limited, both the approved I140s are yours to use. Whichever sponsor's I140 is applied to your AOS is that sponsor you should joing after AOS is approved. But, AC21 in your case makes it even more complex. You better get a very (interfiling) experienced lawyer to help you out in your case for just to be on the safe side. There is no point taking so much risk at this stage of this prolonged and painfull process.

Mine is a CSC to NSC xfer case. FP done in Jan'08 Received HLUD on 02/09 and SLUd on 02/10 for me and my family's 485s. Nothing after that.
HLUD was
Application Type: I485 , APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS
Current Status: This case is now pending at the office to which it was transferred.
The I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS was transferred and is now pending standard processing at a USCIS office.
HLUD was
Application Type: I485 , APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

The difference between us and the latinos is that they stand by their community, irrespective of illegal or legal. Every latino that is coming on TV, organizing the marches, giving interviews to the newspapers are legal latinos defending the illegals.
On the other hand, we fight between EB2 and EB3!!!!!!!!!!

Full Disclosure.. I am an Indian
Very glad to see that these people have been caught by the law enforcement agents. These are the people who care candidates for EB1 category for greencards. As most of these join the fake IT bodyshops and show multinational executive experience on their resume. This is not the only university where you see people from Andhra Pradesh misusing law, there are many universities in the same business. I hope to see more enforement like this. I wish the USCIS and other related agencies crack down on the misuse of credential in the greencard process. Most of the IT people with fake experience and reporting structure should be punished for violating law and legitimate people with US education should get their right place in the waiting list.
My wife is on H4 visa and looking for opportunities. She gets calls from all these consultant who ask her to get on to F1 visa at some community college and then use CPT/OPT for working on their projects.....when i came to this country to study at a top ranked university, i thought F1 visa is for higher education...now it is used in community colleges. New learning everyday!!

What you say sounds very selfish and narrow-minded.
When I made my first contribution to IV, I was stuck in BEC-hole and clearing out BEC was my top priority but not the top priority issue IVs list. I still believed in the big common goal and believed in the IV team.
You say that you don't see any benefit from IV's goals and so you wont contribute. IV's top priority is to bring relief through legislative solutions to retrogression. Can you tell me that eliminating retrogression will not benefit CP filers? If not, then what's the excuse of your bunch to not contribute?
If you still want to stick with the above "Oh it does not directly benefit me, a CP filer, because it does not massage my foot and make me feel good" rhetoric, then hey since I'm interested only in 485, I'd have to say that not a single cent of my contribution should go towards anything other than 485.
If every 485 filer were to get that selfish and said that, it would leave out this small pool of CP filer contributions (if any) which does not cover the costs of even arming up for your proposed cause. Now, where do you want to go from here?

Hi everyone,
Last week one of my friend(Mexican) from mexico was sent back from the airport and her visa was revoked (B1/B2).The officer claimed that since she lived in the US for almost 5-6 months (no overstays) for the last 2 years,she must have worked here.Is there any possibility that she could apply for another visa (either after waiting for a few months and what are the Odds?).Can the immigrant lawyer do anything to help her get her any other visa (student or something).
Please help!!
