Definitely do not send it back to the guy. If you're going to do anything, send it to your friend and have her make the exchange and check the phone and make sure it's working as it should. (Hopefully she knows a thing or two about iPhone's)

Everytime I upgrade to a new version of LR I try Aperture, I tend to find it struggles badly on my Mac Mini - Lightroom doesn't set the world on fire in terms of performance - but it works.
For me LR is a more polished application, I have no issues with the interface (used it from Beta version) or the need to switch from Library to Develop modules.

I am not fluent in Perl but I do use Python at my work. I am mainly a C++ developer. I find Python easy to use and quite powerful for the things you listed. There are many 3rd party libraries that will help with most things you need to do. A SSH client called Paramiko was VERY helpful to me for logging into servers and transferring files and running commands. This site may help get you started with Python and Paramiko's SSH library.

As for the file and string manipulations you listed, I find just doing a google search is helpful enough.
Just make sure you get a Python debugger if you go that way. I use Eclipse with Pydev. I am sure others may suggest a better debugger. It is adequate for my needs.

Nobody knew that at the time that article was written. After E3 05 Sony had everyone believing the PS3's graphics were a bazillion times superior, even IGN and G4.

Only three things come to mind:
1) That you are inadvertently calling mysqli_close somewhere before a query or ping, maybe in one of your includes.
2) You are overwriting $conn somewhere else.
3) Some PHP bug in an older version of PHP perhaps. Are you guys running on CentOS / RHEL? If so I would suggest upgrading to 5.2 from the testing repos and see if that helps.

I have a weebee and i have a few problems with it.
#1 don't like how loud the velcro is.
#2 when there's no laptop in the bag, it's really uncomfortable to wear. has to have adequate weight in it to be comfortab.e
#3 There's something about the little handle on the bag that makes it awkward to carry that way.
It's really expensive but that's pretty much with any laptop bag that you buy (well except for the really ugly targus ones)

Trust me, it's going to be much easier to just use MailChimp. They have a free option, as long as it's less that 2000 contacts and less than 12,000 emails per month. You just embed their signup form on your website, and you can compose the emails elsewhere and copy/paste, or use their forms. For someone that's not computer-savvy, it's really the best way by far, and since it's free, nothing to lose really.

Man do these icons look ugly the look "ubuntu gnome like". It seems that they're decided on the icons being greyed out now, just like they did in iTunes. Huge bummer, we're visual and it would be much easier to distinguish with color imo. Hope the developers give apple that feedback.

I have Simple Mobile service. I had been told to disable the 3G option on my iPhone 3gs. Now I have a new iPhone 4. With Gevey, can I now use the 3G enable? Will my phone work on 3G network? Thank you!

1. It's because you're mirroring. Mirroring limits the resolution to the native res of the lower res display. Unchecking that will allow you to use the native res of the monitor, and you get the functionality of dual screens as well.
2. Drag the bottom right corner to make it full screen. That should make it so that the green button maximizes a small window in that app.

I was going to make a new thread but came across this post. I want to implement scenario #2. What mode would I put the airport express in? Would they be broadcasting the same network twice if I wired it up like this (meaning I would see WirelessNetworkName twice)?
put it in "extend (bridge mode)" under connection sharing on the internet page.
then give it the same SSID and security settings as the main base.
your devices will automatically switch to the stronger signal as you move around the house. it will only appear once.
most large locations (like airports (not apple's devices, but the places with airplanes)) do this, and you never know.
that's only if you are using the same flavor of wireless (B,G, or N) on both units, if you are trying to create separate G & N networks, still use the bridge mode but give them different names. (up to you if the security settings are the same or not)

Apple was unwise to allow the same core of an application to run on Mac OS 8.x, 9.x and X. Even AppleWorks has two separate applications which call various Carbon modules. What works well on one operating system is counterproductive on the other.
Considering that Adobe converted their software to run on Mac OS X, they should have used Carbon Events to allow Mac OS X to use the idle time for other processes rather than using the old event loop. It is apparent from the way their applications use CPU while idle that they have not chosen the more efficient path but only the more expedient one.
Part of the problem with converted applications is MetroWerks' PowerPlant framework, which Macromedia and many, many others use. It has used the old event loop too. However, they redeemed themselves by creating PowerPlant X, which uses Carbon Events. Yeah. under the iChat prefs. it says 'mic enabled'. I guess i'll have to try a self powered mic, because I know this mic i have works, i tried it out on my roommates PC.:confused:
